  3. You were taught in your conversion 
  4. training for the P-80 that its range is 
  5. greatly improved if you keep the bird at 
  6. higher altitudes.  This thought keeps 
  7. running through your mind as you lead 
  8. your trio of P-80s on an escort mission to 
  9. Lechfeld.  You'll need every drop of fuel 
  10. in your jet to defend the B-17s under your 
  11. charge, and still get you back home to 
  12. Metz airfield.

  16. Escort the B-17s to hit the Lechfeld 
  17. research site.  Since this is a vital center 
  18. for German secret weapons development, 
  19. you can expect stiff resistance from the 
  20. Luftwaffe.

  22. Conserve your jet's fuel by flying at  
  23. cruise speed (80% power or less) at an 
  24. altitude between 25,000 to 30,000 feet 
  25. whenever possible.
